Destroy This Memory

I was very fortunate to attend the ‘Landscape and Eschatology’ symposium at Tate Britain a couple of weeks back. Set up alongside the John Martin exhibition, a number of key academics and artists spoke on Landscape, City and Apocalypse. A topic that felt somehow unnervingly current. The highlight of the day however had to Richard Misrach, speaking of the close affinity to apocalypse in he sees in his own work. He showcased some of his major projects, such as the time he spent in New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. The Images are truly devastating and beautiful! I was also fortunate enough to pick up a signed copy of his book Destroy This Memory.
